UN Comtrade Plus Tutorial

It is the United Nations trade data platform, which provides official and harmonized information on imports and exports between countries, including:

• Trade flows by product (HS/SITC codes)
• Data by reporting and partner country
• Annual and monthly statistics
• Visualizations and database downloads

1. Visit: comtradeplus.un.org
2. No registration is required to consult public data
3. Use the “Build Query” button to create a custom query

1. Click on “Build Query”
2. Select the flow type: imports, exports, or both
3. Choose the countries (reporter and partner)
4. Select the classification system (HS 2017, SITC, etc.)
5. Enter the product (by name or code)
6. Indicate the years and click on “Run Query”

The system will show you an interactive table with the results.

• The results can be viewed as a table, graph, or map
• You can download the data in CSV or JSON
• You can also copy links to share your queries

Example: Cocoa exports from Ivory Coast to Spain

1. Flow type: Exports
2. Reporter country: Ivory Coast
3. Partner country: Spain
4. HS product code: 1801 (cocoa beans)
5. Year: 2022
6. Click on “Run Query”

The system will show FOB value, volume, destination country, and trends by year.
